Course intelligence · free, and useful even if you never book
The Kashmir Marathon route, explained properly. What it does, where it hurts, and what it means for your finishing time.
Approximately 960 metres of total elevation gain, and a three-hour cut-off on the half marathon that applies to every age band, including veterans. A flat city half of 2:35 does not translate to a comfortable 3:00 finish here.
“Plan for a slower time than your flat course and you will have a wonderful race.”
42.195 km · ₹2,200
7-hour cut-off — the more forgiving of the two on the clock.
21.0975 km · ₹1,800
3-hour cut-off — counter-intuitively the tougher call.
KM
0–8
Flat and fast along the Boulevard with Dal Lake on your shoulder. Quicker than it feels, which is exactly the problem.
KM
8–16
Long, shallow gradients that never quite let you settle into a rhythm.
KM
16–24
The steepest sustained climb of the day, and where the half-marathon cut-off starts to bite.
KM
24–32
Rolling orchard roads through Chinar country. Exposed, and warmer by now than the start line suggested.
KM
32–42
A long descent back down to the lake. Quad-punishing after the climb, but the finish comes on flat ground.
Daytime
15–23°C, sunny and dry.
Race morning
5–10°C at the start line.
Rain
October is one of the driest months of the year.
Sun
Strong at altitude. Sunscreen is not optional.
What to wear
A throwaway warm layer, light gloves, a thin beanie.
Nothing new
Race week is not the time to try new gear.
The fit check is free and it is willing to tell you no.
